Opportunity does not knock, It presents itself when you beat down the door.

I got the golden opportunity of working as TAG coordinator through the great project’ TEJAS’.

About My school level Project: -

I have 1st to 4 th std learners in my school. In pandemic situation they have irreversible learning loss. So, I made a bunch of similar activities which are easygoing and suitable for all students

          These are BRIDGE Activities.

I arranged one activity for a month. I made proper preparation and give my learners appropriate and sufficient  time to understand content and language.

1)    Action songs that teaches action words with enjoyment. –

I made list of action songs from 1st to 4th std English books as well as other songs also, then at a fixed time we enjoyed these songs .we used videos and audios. we recited  songs personally and in chorus. I arranged competitions related to activity.

ü Can you jump.

ü clap your hands.

ü Jog jog in the morning.

ü Peel banana.

ü Boogie Woogie.

ü When you are happy.

2)      Noughts and crosses:-

It is the Well-known game played by two groups. I conducted it by making various adaptations.

ü write words starting with given letter.

ü write words ending with  given letter.

ü write action words.

ü write related words.

ü Make sentences from given verbs in the grid.

3)    Spidergram:-

It is a spider-shaped diagram with the main topic in a central and related words as legs.

ü Making spider gram using pictures.

ü with using picture dictionaries.

ü with using familiar words.

4)    Chain-drill:-

It is the activity that  students make chain of words, questions, names etc.

ü Chain drill with words.

ü with asking questions.

ü  With alphabets.

ü with making action and guess the word.

Whole school involved in this activity. They learned by playing.

5)    Stop the Bus:-

It is the vocabulary game we can take for any standard  or mixed groups Draw a table on the board like   Name, country, animal, vegetable, fruit

Then make two teams, each team have to write one item beginning with given letter for each category. Which team complete all table shout “Stop the bus”. Then count the score by giving 10 points for each correct word.

I arranged this activity with mixed groups, and by providing vocabulary to students. It’s proved very effective for increasing new vocabulary and group work.

Success of “Build a Bridge ”

v These activities prove like a Bridge between students and English  learning. It takes my students progressing ahead with fun.

v It helps to create and develop positive and fearless attitudes towards English language in my learners through these bridge  activities.

v Bridge is a structure built to span obstacles; my activities also work same. Taking activities in mixed groups improve student’s performance and confidence.

v One activity for one month gives sufficient time and practice so that students remember them forever.

v Bridge activities are like interaction patterns and well planned which establish and maintain positive learning environment.
