 Be your own reading Hero

I am Pratibha Anant Gaikar, the class teacher of 7th standard.

Reading is one of the most powerful weapons that students could ever hope for and can make massive development among themselves. Reading habits are the most crucial for the reasonable development of the mind within the growing kids. Reading is super beneficial for studying language and culture. And it doesn't matter to which language it belongs, it is going to be highly effective. Every student can effortlessly comprehend their mother tongue but can encounter several barriers while understanding any other language especially English. Every reading should be replenished with intonation, emotions, and eloquence. To make this thing happen in real life I have adopted an activity ‘Be your own reading hero’

The first thing to be accomplished in this activity is while teaching the students a particular chapter, I permitted them to read the chapter thoroughly within the classroom and again make it mandatory to read the same chapter at home. But for the most part, several students don't have highly educated parents in their homes (as most of them belong to the ruler area) and because of this, it became relatively a challenge for them to have a revision of the pre-discussed chapter. And owing to this fact many students evaluate some words incorrectly and speculate them as the correct ones.

           To tackle this situation I have decided to add up the remaining pages from their previous grades notebooks to their English textbooks from the 5 grade itself. This can be brought to work by adding the new word with their pronunciation, meaning, antonym, rhyming words, past tenses, singular or plural words, etc. to the pages which were later added to the textbook immediately after the competition of the particular chapter.

         Because of this technique when students try to revise the pre-discussed chapter at their home they can read the same thing fluently and effortlessly and can enhance their vocabulary, how to use the word in day-to-day use, can read in proper intonation, can gain a good amount of confidence and they also get attracts to reading due to the pronunciations which are mentioned on the page.

         Personally speaking, this activity is super productive for students to have a good hold on English reading and due to this periodic reading attitude they get used to them and can read with enormous enthusiasm.
